After watching a three-minute video detailing the life of William Shakespeare, scholars take part in several activities designed to show what they know about the famous writer. Learners read a series of eight sentences and put them in chronological order. Word work challenges pupils to listen to or read a word and match it to its corresponding picture. The same words can be found in a word search.

Instructional Ideas

  • Coordinate the lesson with the campus technology teacher, conduct the lesson in the computer lab
  • Flip your classroom—assign the interactive for homework in preparation for a learning activity when participants return to school
  • Have the link open or bookmark it for easy access in the classroom—direct pupils to complete the assignment in a center rotation or as a May Do when other tasks are finished

Classroom Considerations

  • If going the paper route—copies are required, color copies look best but are not necessary
  • Headphones boost focus and lower volume in the class when the video is played at different times
  • An interactive is the third of seven activities all of which are Shakespeare themed
  • Although designed for language learners, the interactive is appropriate for all pupils

Pros

  • The activities following the video can be played online or printed
  • An answer key is included

Cons

  • None
