Revere Beach was the first oceanside beach purchased for public access (in 1895). Noted architect Charles Eliot was responsible for the design and layout of the beach's roadways and facilities. Managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the reservation continues to provide public recreation facilities.
