Credited both as a writer and conservationist, Grey Owl (aka Archibald Belaney) made a career promoting environmental causes and nature conservation. Although he was extremely popular prior to his death, afterwards this was not the case. Following the printing of information that he was not actually a Native American at all, publication of some of his books rapidly ceased.
