First graders collect data in the fall and again in the spring. they use the data from both seasons to compare and contrast changes over time. They put the data from the fall into a box or "time capsule." The teacher encourages students to record data based on what they see, hear, smell, and touch. Similar observations are made in the spring. The students discuss what changed, how it changed, as well as what did not change.
