The Tainos of Puerto Rico: Rediscovering Borinquen

Nice unit designed to help students of Puerto Rican descent learn about their cultural roots. Students research Taino culture and read Taino myths, legends and poems; create their own myths and poems; and practice Spanish vocabulary. Also includes background information on the historical Tainos (culture, daily life, religion) and an annotated bibliography of materials that can be used to support the project. One drawback: supporting materials referenced are print only.
