The Salmon Game has students explore different scenarios of salmon spawning and survival using beans. All materials are provided. These include a lesson plan, background information on salmon, a slideshow, student handouts, etc., as well as interactive features on the website where they can perform a computational simulation. The site also explains how to analyze a discrepant event using the computational model, in this case why so many eggs are laid and many of them die.
