There is the same amount of water on earth now as there was when it was formed. The water from your faucet could contain molecules that dinosaurs drank! Young scientists build their own hydrologic cycle model and observe it for five days. Then, scholars apply their knowledge to survive on a deserted island that doesn't have a fresh water source.

Instructional Ideas

  • Teach the water cycle song for a multi-sensory approach

Classroom Considerations

  • You must make observations three times a day for five days, so carefully consider how to schedule this
  • The fourth in a series of five lessons

Pros

  • Includes KWL chart and extensions
  • Resource provides differentiation strategies

Cons
