The History Cat: Us History: Louisiana Purchase

Curated by ACT

Covers two topics related to the growth of the new United States - the Louisiana Purchase and the settling of the Great Plains. How the Louisiana Purchase came about as a result of a decision by Napoleon is explained. The Great Plains were another area that began to be settled early in the infancy of the United States, having earlier been thought of as a great desert. Settling the Plains, however, required relocating the native tribes who called it their home.
