Texas Instruments: Numb3 Rs: Exponential Growth

Based off of the hit television show NUMB3RS, this lesson introduces students to the concept of exponential growth, especially in comparison to linear growth. This is done in the context of weekly allowances, in which one group earns a constant sum each week while another group earns double the amount each week (starting with only one penny!). This activity is very technology-dependent, but may be altered by the teacher to eliminate some of the technology use. The lesson concludes with students exploring the general exponential equation y=ab^x.
