Instructional Ideas

  • Pick and choose lessons based on the level of your class; you might use two beginning lessons and two intermediate lessons to meet the specific needs of your learners
  • Make an effort to encourage recycling in your classroom and at your school during the unit

Classroom Considerations

  • While designed for teaching adults English, this could easily be used in a secondary classroom
  • You may have some issues using the Flash Facts included; instead of printing them out (which will use up a great deal of yellow ink), you might use them as slides or type up your own versions
  • You may wish to check some information in the facts for current information; for example, one fact references the year 2008, and you might be able to find more recent information

Pros

  • Comes with background information for teachers as well as materials designed to help train language teachers
  • Images and facts about the environment and recycling are included in the appendices

Cons

  • None
