Sinking Soda Surprise

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

I'm sure you've heard that there are something like 20 tablespoons of sugar in a can of regular soda. It seems unbelievable, doesn't it? This demonstration really does show how much sugar is present in a can of soda. First, Spangler shows how regular soda cans sink to the bottom of a tub of water, while diet soda cans float. Then he compares their weights on a balance scale. The difference is huge, and that difference is the amount of sugar present. It turns out to be 18 packets of sugar in ONE CAN. An important video for today's soda powered generation.
