The /r/ sound can be a difficult one, but scholars use some helpful tips to get it right. After examining the letter shape they listen to you pronounce this phoneme and describe what you are doing to create the sound. They try on their own and brainstorm words with this initial sound. Next, a fast-paced game has them say the /r/ sound every time you point to the letter r and stay silent when you point to any other letter. This is a tricky one that you can speed up as scholars get better. The pronunciation guide isn't worth your time, however the letter cards may be useful.
