Read Write Think: Webcams in the Classroom: Animal Inquiry and Observation

Observe animal behavior patterns and their habitats using one of the many webcams broadcasting from zoos and aquariums around the United States and the world in this inquiry-based activity that focuses on observation logs, class discussion, questioning, and research. Students view an animal webcam, make observations, describe what they see in a notebook or log, and research any questions that emerge. The lesson could also be done by observing a classroom pet, animals at home or at the zoo, or a bird feeder outside a window. Includes links to sites along with assessment and reflection activities.
