Concepts

social-emotional learning, close reading, inferences, making inferences, emotions, identifying emotions

Instructional Ideas

  • Instructors must find an intriguing image to project for the class; however, a link to the New York Times "What's Going On in this Picture?" feature is provided
  • As pupils become more comfortable with the various routines, have a volunteer lead one of the opening or closing routines

Classroom Considerations

  • Each of the routines, once learned, are designed to last from 5 to 10 minutes
  • Third in a series of routines, designed to be taught in order, used at the beginning or end of a class
  • Requires a projection device to display the image
  • For those unfamiliar with See, Think, Wonder, a link is provided to a page that describes the strategy

Pros

  • An overview of the routines, with objectives and suggestions for both face-to-face learning and remote learning situations, may be found by following the link in the Includes Materials Section

Cons

  • None
