Having read and discussed Bullfrog at Magnolia Circle, third graders demonstrate their bullfrog expertise by writing informational paragraphs. Building on the note-taking and paragraph planning from the previous lesson plan, learners create writing with a topic sentence, supporting details, and concluding sentence while focusing on carefully choosing words for effect. Following completion of the assessment, children read their writing aloud in small groups before working collaboratively to create and act out short skits about bullfrogs. Though designed as a writing assessment, the resource also addresses learners' comprehension of an informational text.
