Nato: Nato's Role in Afghanistan

NATO took command of the International Security Assistance Force, ISAF, in 2003. It's mission was originally limited to Kabul, but has expanded its role to the whole of Afghanistan. Its main objective is to assist the Afghan government in effective governing and reconstruction. This essay discusses the ISAF mission, its mandate and evolution.
