Odd, isn’t it, that even when you think you know how to match a word with its definition, you learn that some meanings are at odds with others, that some subject fields devise interpretations that don’t correspond with others, and that usage cannot be neatly divided into two piles. Sometimes there is just the odd man out. Peculiar, isn’t it? But, then so is the etymology of Odd.
