Who knows how to operate these multiplication machines? Young mathematicians examine five machines, each with a specific function (i.e. x3) to transform the input numbers to output numbers. They send five numbers through each machine, multiply by the given function, and write the products. There are two done for them, and none of the factors here exceed 10. Extend this in a fun way by bringing up volunteer "math machines." Give them a function and ask their classmates to send numbers "into" the machine, challenging the volunteer to compute quickly and report the products.
