Microbes in Action: Classroom Activities: Transfer of Diseases

Curated by ACT

A science experiment to observe how microbes are transferred by hand contact. This lab creates a model to show young scholars how microbes transfer disease. One student will rub their hand with candy soaked in a yeast solution, then students will shake hands with classmates to see how the yeast transferred. Young scholars hands will be swabbed and the sample cultured to observe whether or not yeast was present on their hands.
