Measurement of Volume

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Young scholars measure the volume of a clear container using a candle and sand. In this measuring volume lesson plan, students time how long a candle stays lit in a clear glass container. They fill it with sand and find the volume and then use a larger container and time how long a candle stays lit in the larger container. They set up a proportion to find the volume of the larger container. Young scholars measure the volume with sand in the larger container and compare their answers.
