Lumen: Boundless Psychology: Introduction to Abnormal Psychology

This learning module looks at how normal behavior is defined and perceived by society. The definitions of normal behavior shifts as societal norms change over time. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is a tool used to try to define it. Being 'abnormal' can lead to stigmatization and discrimination, which intensify the experience of the person suffering from a psychological disorder.
