If a 150 lb. person can comfortably eat and digest a 1 lb. burger, then how large would the person be who can comfortably eat and digest a 350 lb. burger? For a burger that size, it would take either a large person or a class of really hungry 6th graders. Your 6th grade class may not be able to finish that burger, but they will be able to finish their work with ratios, percentages, and proportions in this large activity. Additional materials include a short video clip of some burgers offered at the same restaurant that cooked the record setting burger. There is also a shorter worksheet with the same information adapted for use by 5th graders who work with decimals and not percents or proportions.
