Juno Beach Centre: British Commonwealth Air Training Plan

The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, also known as the Empire Air Training Scheme, was put in place during World War Two. Its goal was to train pilots from Britain, Australia and Canada for the Royal Air Force in Britain. Canada was the ideal place for this due to its proximity to Britain, its open spaces and its relatively greater safety.
