Iehs: Rohma A. Khan, "South Asian Immigrant Cab Drivers in New York City"

Curated by ACT

This article focuses on South Asian immigrants from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh in the late 20th century attempted to infuse home with their interactions in America, to negotiate their own positions in society. In their pursuit of social equity, South Asians in America sought to use the notions of home and family to unite ethnically disparate immigrants. The New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA)is a good example.
