Young scholars explore African American migration. In this black culture and history instructional activity, students use a map to identify northern and southern states in which African Americans lived in the 1900s. Young scholars observe and describe objects and events depicted in photographs and paintings of rural and urban homes of African Americans during this time period. Students draw a picture of one aspect of the Great Migration, and young scholars' pictures are attached to create a mural.
