Graphing Piecewise Defined Functions

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Instructional Ideas

  • Provide several opportunities for the class to practice graphing piecewise functions
  • Brainstorm where piecewise functions may appear in the real world

Classroom Considerations

  • Requires the ability to graph linear and quadratic functions
  • This video is hosted on YouTube

Pros

  • Uses a graphing calculator to confirm the graphs
  • Graphs each portion of the function with a different color to connect the graph with the equations

Cons

  • None
