Instructional Ideas

  • Supplement this resource into a primary lesson series on common factors
  • Drawing factor trees and Venn diagrams can be messy if students are trying to solve the problem in a small space; make sure they have plenty of paper and space to answer the equations
  • Consider whether or not you want kids using a calculator. If you don't, edit the sentence permitting them to do so

Classroom Considerations

  • Use projector to explain the lesson using factor trees and Venn diagrams so pupils have a better understanding before exploring on their own
  • Graph paper might be useful for solving the equations

Pros

  • Extension activities included
  • Worksheet bridges gap from knowing it to doing it

Cons

  • None
