Instructional Ideas

  • Spend some time having the class calculate the determinant of various 2 x 2 matrices
  • Use actual values instead of variables in the exploratory challenge for those having trouble understanding the material

Classroom Considerations

  • Pupils should know how to determine the area of a figure using composition and decomposition
  • 27th segment of the 32-part unit

Pros

  • The answer key shows the diagrams in different colors
  • The scaffolding has the general formulas for matrix multiplication and addition

Cons

  • None
