test preparation, Standardized Tests, Study Skills, reading comprehension, reading nonfiction, reading strategies, textual evidence, main ideas, informational texts, textual analysis, literacy, word meanings

Instructional Ideas

  • Grab a time in the computer lab for your class to practice with the online version; they can get out all their questions about navigating an online environment before the actual test
  • Take some time to teach your class test-taking strategies and to go over the questions and answers together

Classroom Considerations

  • Some of the questions are not multiple choice in the online version, but rather click and/or drag and drop style
  • Depending on your printing capabilities, it may prove difficult to print the large-print exam provided in the materials
  • After finishing the online version, students can view their scores (not the answers) and print to share with a teacher

Pros

  • Includes an online version of the test as well as answer keys and other materials
  • The answer keys pair questions with specific Common Core standards, so you can analyze the data and create some targeted instruction for specific standards that your students struggle with

Cons

  • None
