The Crow Wing Trail was an important fur trading route that played a large role in the Pemmican Wars. This website has photos from the 1870s and explains why the route was important. The exact location is mapped from Winnipeg to Minnesota. Today, it has been restored and incorporated into the Trans Canada Trail.
