After the story is read aloud, 3rd graders answer discussion questions and review key vocabulary. Students complete provided worksheet to show understanding of coupons, and then separate into small groups to participate in a 15-second shopping spree. Calculators are used to total the money “spent”, and students discuss why calculators are useful to shoppers.
