Instructional Ideas

  • Stress the importance of acknowledging others values positively and not bullying those who think and feel differently
  • Create a values-themed bulletin board, post the lesson's defining points, invite pupils to bring in pictures of who or what they value most
  • Pose assessment questions on a classroom blog, direct learners to respond to questions and at least one peer to keep the discussion going

Classroom Considerations

  • Class members may not feel comfortable sharing their values; therefore, create a safe space for them to speak, or allow for writing to take a discussion's place
  • Requires some prep; paper collecting and optional copies

Pros

  • Explains every lesson's step clearly and thoroughly
  • Provides six additional assignments designed to extend the learning process

Cons

  • None
