As part of the social, economic, and legal/political civil rights study, class members brainstorm a list of current civil rights issues that affect their community. Individuals or pairs select one issue to research further. The class then selects one issue that they think they could work to change as a class project. The issue will be the foundation for the following two lessons in the unit.
