Concepts

photo stories, photojournalism

Additional Tags

photojournalism, photo story, elements of composition, principles of composition, visual and performing arts

Instructional Ideas

  • Implement technology by using an app that allows learners to take photos with a tablet or other device and put together a collage or other collection that expresses the message, such as Pic Collage or Book Creator (there are many other options)

Classroom Considerations

  • During the discussion stage of the plan, learners examine various magazines that show examples of photojournalism; you'll need to gather magazines or get access to online versions for students to explore
  • It is unclear whether the whole class tackles the same topic, or if each small group selects a topic; you can choose what works better for your class
  • You will need a way to develop or print photos

Pros

  • Includes model photographs, vocabulary, extension ideas, and more to help you conduct a successful lesson

Cons

  • None
