The 17 resources in NASA’s Rockets Educator Guide allow young scientists and engineers to engage in experiments as they examine images of more than 2,00 years of rockets. Scholars then read articles that provide an overview of the next generation of rockets for space exploration, classify rockets by type of fuel, and provide information about Newton’s Laws of Motion applications. Authentic hands-on activities have them test their rocket design in a teacher-built wind tunnel, build launchers to launch paper and foam rockets, and an altitude tracker. Learners also design and race a Newton Car that demonstrates Newton’s Third Law of Motion and build a launcher to launch water rockets. The guide also contains background information about the history of basic rocket science and rockets.
