Moon Munchies: Human Exploration Project and Engineering Design Challenge

NASA and the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association, or ITEEA, present young scientists with a challenge: design and build lunar plant growth chambers so that astronauts can grow edible plants on the moon. Class members learn about the engineering design process and how to conduct a scientific experiment. After determining the natural resources important for plants and resources available on the moon, pupils learn how to create an electrical circuit to light their plant chamber. Using what they have learned, scholars design a lunar plant growth chamber model and build a paper model.
