Try to address the manipulation directly if it’s early-stage, but recognize that in more entrenched cases, confrontation may only bring more denial or abuse. You can protect yourself by identifying triggers, limiting exposure, and creating space for clarity and agency—walking away, seeking social support, or talking to trusted allies. In cases where leaving isn’t possible, such as family gatherings, use calm boundary-setting phrases (“I don’t want to talk about that right now”). Above all, protect your integrity and self-worth. Recovery takes time—often multiple attempts—but reclaiming your reality and sense of self is worth it. As the speaker says, your reality is your integrity—you are worth fighting for.\n
