Written in...\nInspired by the strangest novel of the 19th century, Sotheby’s Asia Chairman Nicolas Chow has created another of his experimental short-films featuring highlights from our upcoming auction Curiosity V (Hong Kong | 2 April). Written in 1891, Léon Genonceaux’s novel ‘The Tutu’ was lost for over 100 years before being rediscovered in the 1990s. The mysterious and scandalous story was intended as a critique of fin-de-siècle morality. Sotheby’s Curiosity sale presents masterpieces from across time and geographical space, from Ice Age Siberia to Bronze Age China, Ancient Egypt and Medieval Europe.
